Below you will find an annotated transcript that describes the courses I completed during my time in the MAED Program at Michigan State University. While technology and leadership were my official concentrations, my overall course work was focused on allowing me to become a more well rounded educator who is knowledgeable about teaching and learning and who can effectively integrate technology into their instruction in a pedagogically appropriate manner.

ED 800: Concepts of Educational Inquiry
Steven Weiland
ED 800 was centered around questions and theories related to educational inquiry, such as: What are its purposes, traditions, characteristic activities, and recurring problems and efforts at reform? What is most worth knowing and how are individual, institutional, and social views of education and the curriculum at all levels reconciled? How do we learn, what do we want from teaching, and from education outside of schools and beyond the years of formal schooling? This was a self-paced course that gave students a lot of freedom in completing the required six units of class activities on their own schedule. Each unit centered around a topic in education with specific articles, videos, and books related to it. At the end of each unit, students completed an essay to show their understanding of that unit's topic/focus. This course provided me with a lot of insight into educational theories, the history of education and curriculum, and strategies and methods of teaching.

EAD 866: Teaching in Postsecondary Education
Ann Austin
EAD 866 is a course for teachers who are currently teaching or will be teaching in a post-secondary setting. The course focused on seven topics throughout the semester, including: learners, the learning process and learning contexts; conceptions of teaching; curriculum and instructional planning; teaching strategies; evaluation methods and professional development; and reflection and philosophical views of teaching at the post-secondary level. EAD 866 helped me progress down the road to becoming a better teacher by helping me to continue developing as a teacher of college students. This course also helped me to better understand the core values and beliefs of teachers at the post-secondary level, and to better understand the students who I work with in the library classroom.

EAD 876: Budgeting and Finance in Higher Education
Patricia Farrell
In this course we looked at the fundamentals of higher education budgeting and finance, including external sources of funding, internal resource allocation processes, social and economic principles and values regarding the distribution of resources among competing concerns. For me, it was a good look at one of the non-teaching sides of the higher education environment. and opened my eyes to the administrative side of higher education and all that goes into the budgeting process.

CEP 818: Creativity in Teaching and Learning
Punya Mishra and Kristen Kereluik
This course looked at the value and relevance of creativity in education and the importance of recognizing, analyzing, and supporting creativity in multiple contexts. The class activities were organized into different categories (Veja Du, Perceiving, Patterning, Abstracting, Embodied Thinking, Modeling, and Deep Play) and allowed me to explore my own creativity, as well as to create some kind of project, for each segment that related to my work as a librarian at MSU.

EAD 801: Leadership and Organizational Development
Nancy Colflesh
The bulk of this class was spent working on a research project that we were able to choose. I chose to research and discuss leadership in the academic library environment. The project helped me learn a lot about the range of leadership styles and how each of them would heavily influence a person's path toward becoming an effective leader.

CEP 817: Learning Technology through Design
Punya Mishra, Catalina Park & Laura Terry
The course focused on all aspects of design from technical function to aesthetics. This course taught me the importance of design and the major role it plays in student learning. Within this course, I created my own website. to help students similar to the ones I teach in my Information Literacy classes. Leigh Wolf, Luke Rapa & Joshua Rosenberg
CEP-815 taught me about the different types of leaders and leaderships skills that are required to manage the environments in which different technologies will be implemented. EAD 861: Adult Learning
William Arnold
In this course I was able to really dig into thinking about formal and informal education, and learning, for adult learners . This course allowed me to develop a better understanding of who are adult learners, how and why adults learn (both inside and outside an actual classroom), and the relationship between learning and development for this population. The course used case studies and problem-based learning as a basis for exploring issues and topics related to adult learning, and I gained many valuable insights into these learners though an in-depth examination of a case study.

ED 870: Capstone Seminar
Matthew Koehler, Joshua Rosenberg, Andrea Zellner, and Spencer Greenhalgh
ED 870 was the final course that I completed in the MSU MAED program. The focus of this course was to compile all of the work that I had completed in the MAED program, synthesize my learning, and create a professional portfolio. To do this, I used Weebly to organize, store, and showcase my work.
